Pre and Perinatal Professional Training and Education

Providing Professional Education For Facilitating Optimal Birth And Attachment, Resolution Of Issues From Preconception Through The Attachment Period For Babies, Children And Adults.

2022-2023 Training: Western Massachusetts

Location: 108 Main Street, Charlemont, MA 01339, outside of Northampton

Class Dates, 2022-2023

March 24-28, 2022 - Module 1: Attachment

This module covers the attachment process from the preconception through age 2. Primary themes are connection/separation. The new understanding of interpersonal neurobiology and the development of emotional and social intelligence through attunement and resonance are central. We will look at child and adult attachment styles and experience specific processes for resourcing, resolving and re patterning attachment issues in infants, children and adults.

June 9-13, 2022 - Module 2: Pre conception & Conception

The embryology and imprinting in this period is delineated and related to attachment, self and co regulation. We will further develop skills of orienting, tracking and titrating autonomic nervous system cycling, fluid tide dynamics, modulating therapeutic pace, recognizing the therapeutic leading edge. We will continue to work with establishing healthy differentiation and connection within boundary structure.

September 29 - October 3, 2022 - Module 3: Vaginal Birth

This module includes the vaginal birth process, birth stages, pelvic types, cranial molding, birth movement patterns and an introduction to complications. Trainees will explore their own birth passage.

December 1-5, 2022 - Module 4: Chemical Imprinting

Chemical imprinting includes prenatal drug exposure, anesthesia, analgesics and induction drugs during birth. The effects of chemical imprinting on prenates' and babies' psyches, movement patterns, physical structure, energy patterns and the central nervous systems will be explored. Specific treatment protocols will be delineated.

March 30 - April 3, 2023 - Module 5: Surgical Imprinting

Surgical imprinting includes forceps, vacuum extraction. cesarean section and prenatal and infant surgery. The effects of surgical imprinting on prenates' and babies' psyches, movement patterns, physical structure, energy patterns and the central nervous systems will be explored. Specific treatment protocols will be delineated.

June 22- 26, 2023 - Module 6: Double Binds

This module covers life/death/loss and other double bind imprints. Double bind imprints create the most complicated dynamics in the pre and perinatal field. They amplify practitioner transference and countertransference issues and complication for facilitating groups and families. The earlier modules are designed to build the trainees’ understanding, perception, presence and therapeutic skills so that they are more prepared to explore the effects of double binds in effective and compassionate ways.

We will focus on ancestral influences, twin dynamics and twin loss. Ancestral influences on individuation are explored to differentiate twin and ancestral imprinting and expand the connection to the original blueprint. Twin embryonic and placental development are correlated with twin behavior later in life, whether a person is a singleton or a twin.

Pre-Requisites:

  • An Introduction to Somatic Experiencing, Somatic Trauma Resolution or Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy

  • One Process Workshop with Myrna Martin, Eileen Sendrey or Susan Hall (or another Certified Process Workshop Facilitator): The pre training process workshop can be an online PW (given Covid).

Training Format:

  • 6 modules of 5 days each

  • One pre-training Process Workshop and two more during the training, with Myrna, Eileen or Susan

  • Videotaping will be used extensively for home training and reflection. Regular group supervision via the internet included.

Please note:

Covid protocols may be in place. People will either have to have had the vaccine at least three weeks prior or be test negative just prior to attending the Module, and be in a safe bubble for the five days. This is because in the exercises in the module we will be in very close indoor contact, preferable without masks, though a final decision will be make in this regard much closer to the time, in light of the covid situation at that point.

Professional Training Overview

The Health Model: Establishing Safety within and without, learning from the inside out. This training is designed to build skills for grounding, tracking, supporting and resourcing self and others, always finding our way to the original blueprint for health. Participants will be introduced to pre and perinatal psychology and attachment through the lifespan. We will build therapeutic verbal, somatic and emotional skills to support self and clients to resource and connect with the health that is always present. This model emphasizes developing the structure and support for safe therapeutic exploration, staying connected to adult resources so integration can occur. Participants will establish the skills of connection with healthy boundaries, differentiation, and somatic tracking of sensations and emotions. We will develop tools for working with belief systems, claiming disowned parts of the self and creating dialogue and integration between these parts.

We will first establish the foundational knowledge of health in the primal period. It includes a solid understanding of pre and perinatal psychology and health with effective tools to support clients and these issues. Following that we will go into more depth and add breadth in specific areas.

Trainees come from a very wide range of professional background and skills. They include craniosacral therapists, psychologists and other therapists working with families, couples, individual adults, medical and alternative health professionals and everyone associated with child bearing and early years.

The training is highly experiential so trainees must be prepared to do their own early imprint resolution work, and connect with the underlying blueprint.

Approximately 1/2 of the time in each module is experiential, and outside the training participants will do creative home projects, reading and process workshops.
