Welcome to the Healing Early Developmental Trauma Video Series
AN OVERVIEW OF THE TRAINING
This Series has a Three Fold Purpose:
- Provide knowledge for educators and others
- Provide practitioners with the knowledge and skills required to support babies, children and adults to heal from early adverse imprinting in the prenatal and early years, from a “health in the system” model
- Support you in your own personal exploration of health and imprinting
These skills are learned through practice in a safe, sound container, over the time and with supervised practice. Some of you will become practitioners and some of you will incorporate these principles and this knowledge into the practice that you already do. The series will provide you with an opportunity to create ongoing relationships, receive competent guidance and a clear structure to hold you in your learning journey. Many of you already possess a depth of skill and knowledge from other trainings and from your life experiences. This series will build on these strengths.
Practitioners must know the journey from within themselves and in relationship to others to be able to provide the facilitation to babies, children, parents and other adults for their journey. This is why personal work in process workshops and face to face learning and supervision in the Summer Residential Intensives is necessary for practitioners. Here we will work with the skills of quiet presence, compassion, empathy, tracking the ANS, self regulation, somatic and verbal communication, and contact between each other and bridging connection between others in the group.
We will work from the perspective that all behaviors and human conditions are expressions of inherent health. We will constantly ask the questions: where is the health in the system? Where is the resource? about an individual or about a group or family. All of us come to this planet with a tremendous capacity to survive and adapt from the point of preconception, conception, implantation, discovery, birth and into our life.
This ability to adapt to the environment we find ourselves in leads to the particular survival skills we each developed as creative responses to early adverse, stressful or traumatic experiences. They can be held in our bodies as sensations, behaviors, feelings, beliefs, images, postures, macro and micro movement patterns, craniosacral patterns. These capacities helped us survive and get to this point in our lives but they are often not the most useful ways to be fully in our present life. As we work to learn new ways of being with others and ourselves and to repattern these response templates to early adverse imprinting we will be very respectful of the compensation patterns(adaptive survival mechanisms). We need to learn to support these skills when they are needed. It is only from this place we can effectively increase the options for our lives. Then we can come closer to our authentic self, our true nature, and truly appreciate the health in our systems.
Our consciousness existed before we had a physical body and will exist after this body dies. We will focus on life here in this physical body and enhancing this lifetime, and our relationships in it and supporting others to do the same. These early imprints, positive and adverse, definitely influence how we function in this physical body and how we relate to others and ourselves.
When we look at our family histories it becomes apparent that patterns of imprinting, both positive and adverse imprinting, get handed down or recapitulated through many generations. It seems that this imprinting is held in the implicit memory system of each person. To heal these adverse imprints we can
Connect with our own internal primary impulse and align with it
Become consciously aware of the imprint and how it influences current experience
Differentiate the present reality from the history
Develop the ability to choose to be in the present moment and response appropriately to what is here
So let's get started!
How the module resource pages work
This is the core material of this video series. It is the culmination of a 2-year-in-person training that I have put together into a format that allows you to immerse yourself in this learning in a way that fits your life and location. There are many hours of video footage to watch, I encourage you to find a pace that works for you.
Audio Recording of Supervision Zoom Call
Each month I host a 1 hour group call via Zoom. The recordings will be posted in this section for each module.
You will also be sent an email to sign up for each call. Your invitation to sign up is sent 2 weeks before the call.
Make sure to check your spam folder to ensure they are not getting lost.

Please Sign, Scan And Email The Form Back To Myrna At: Myrna@Myrnamartin.Net Before Beginning Your Study
Each module has a full binder of notes. I've shared the document in its original form for each module as a dropbox link. In addition I've posted a quick access to exercises and assignments in their abbreviated form on each online module page.
All the exercises were designed to be done in a dyad, a triad, or small group. If you are studying this material without a friend or small group you may want to experiment doing these exercises with one or more non - PPN students that you feel safe with. If you are looking to connect with other participants of the web series, consider joining the facebook group and/or adding your contact information to this google document.
creative home projects
In order to earn 'Practitioner' status (see CERTIFICATION INFO), Creative Home Projects are an essential component of the training. However 'Practitioner' status is not necessary in order to participate in this series….you can simply watch the videos and incorporate the information into your life or you can decide to achieve ‘Educator” status by watching the videos and writing and passing a take home exam.
If you choose to achieve 'Practitioner' status, more is involved. These projects are designed to support you to integrate PPN into your life. They are designed to support your personal growth, professional growth and your ability to communicate about prenatal and birth therapy. Do your very best to schedule specific time in your calendar to complete these projects. Schedule the time NOW! If you miss your project time, reschedule the project time right away. Do your best to practice follow through. It helps to move you to integration of your work, and THE WORK.
Make sure that you type your work and that it is double spaced . Please include at the top of the page:
- your name
- module number
- name of the home project
- your email address
Projects are to be submitted ONLY if you are seeking certification.
If you are having any difficulty completing any of these projects email me (Myrna) to set up a consultation so the obstacle to your completion of the project ceases to exist. If you feel hesitation to call me or other support people you know, call them anyway! You deserve the contact and the support! When you have completed a project email it to email@example.com and keep a copy for yourself. I will look it over and record you have completed it. I will not be sending feedback to each participant.
Professional consultation support
I'm available to do phone, or online consultations with you. These consultations are scheduled by appointment. My rate is $125 an hour. These appointments are for the purpose of supporting you to find your way to and through your next steps personally and professionally.
I encourage you to have support from your private therapist, esp. if they have a PPN background, and other related health care support people. You deserve the support!
I appreciate the effort you are putting into your work.
Warmest regards, Myrna
